|Layla Crawford was born in Los Angeles, CA. in October. At the early age of 3 she started dancing at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy as an "Early Bird". She performed many recitals with DADA including the noted "Up On The Roof"! Layla continued to show an interest in the arts and performing when as a kindergartener she auditioned for her schools Christmas Play. She got the part! After a few school plays and musicals she expressed an interest in being on TV. |
Very soon after, Layla started perusing acting for Film and TV screen. She immediately booked her first audition for Disney's Choo Choo Soul with Genieve! It was an exciting experience! Since then, Layla has booked numerous commercials. Notably, she was a Principal in the Nike-"Voices" commercial that aired during the 2012 Summer Olympics. It featured Lisa Leslie. She was also fortunate enough to work on a PSA for the National Women's History Museum. The spot was directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) and featured Alfre Woodard!
Almost simultaneously, Layla booked and filmed TWO pilots during the 2012 pilot season. The first pilot was called, The First Family, created and produced by Byron Allen and Entertainment Studios. It is a first run syndicated show featuring an all star cast: Marla Gibbs, Jackee Harry, John Witherspoon and the legendary Gladys Knight. She would portray the Presidents youngest daughter (Series Regular-Olivia Johnson). The second pilot was called, Let It Go, directed by Emmy Award Winner Marc Buckland (My Name Is Earl) in which she portrayed the neighbors daughter (Co-Star-Chloe Duffy).
The First Family is currently airing on the weekends across the country on the CW network and its affilite channels. Check your local listings for dates and times.
Recently, Layla was also fortunate enough to book a Recurring Co-Star role on NCIS Los Angeles as LL Cool J's daughter.
Layla also has a Supporting Role part in the newly released feature film "Note To Self", featuring Christian Keyes, Letoya Luckett, Brian McKnight, Brely Evans and more! Although Layla leads a busy life she loves school and is an honor roll student; She enjoys hanging with her friends and family, listening to music, writing plays, stories and playing with her dolls. She also finds time to play soccer in an organized soccer league.
